Re: Introducing The Competitive Player’s Handbook

I'm really not sure why the writer starts off by calling Netrunner "essentially a children’s’ card game". That's a strange statement and one that's way off in my opinion. There's a reference to this in a Winning Agenda article (which may be where this originally came from), and it sums up...

Re: More Salt Please, The "Sky Is Falling" NAPD Most Wanted List thread

I'm not sure I agree with calling this an elegant solution; it seems to have a lot of collateral damage because of FFG's aversion to bans. PPVP is pretty mediocre outside of Kate, for example, but it gets restricted anyway? If they wanted to deal with Astrobiotics and PPVP Kate as decks, banning NEH...

Re: Andy - Please don't play sweepsweek

Your deck seems a little torn between the DLR plan and being a standard criminal deck - for example, the inclusion of Dirty Laundry, which rewards a deck that runs a lot, is in opposition to the DLR milling plan. I think it's reasonable to go more all-in on DLR and spend your inf on stuff that is go...

Re: World's 2015 Predictions

There aren't really rules of thumb. You're right there's a rush element involved, just like there is versus Noise. But the Runner also needs to exert economic pressure, so dropping economic assets into remotes can also bait out Blackmail or runs (allowing ice to be rezzed). Pressuring the runner on...

Re: World's 2015 Predictions

I was really surprised not to see Haarp 24/7 kill in the top 16; that deck seemed a monster when we tested it. I wonder if few people brought it because they were worried about being it teched against, or if people did bring it and it just isn't as good as I thought? I'd be interested to see the ID ...

Re: World's 2015 Predictions

Predicting Kate to win is boring, but it's true. Top cut will be at least 50% Kate, I reckon. A few Noise will get in on variance but won't be able to take it all the way, and there will probably be at least one Val and one Andy. I seriously doubt the D&D runners are going to make a showing but ...

Re: How many games do you play a week?

Alex was saying in his PSI winner's interview yesterday that the game is harder than it's ever been, and I agree. There's a lot more matchups you need to know, and even the common matchups have a lot of hard decision points. So the answer to how many games you need to play to keep your eye in is bas...

Re: Cybernetic Division attempt - (case study deckbuilding)

I think Snare is better than Edge of World here. As MasterAir says, pure brain damage doesn't work, but does make other kills easier to achieve; and as Brendan says, you need a plan not to lose. The runner doesn't have to play your remote, and against HB ignoring your remote is exactly what most exp...

Re: Perfect Blue

People told me Leela was bad remember. Yes. Please let's remember how badly Leela was judged prior to testing. Fisk has an ability that looks just as subtle and hard to evaluate. I think he may be harder to find the right deck build for, but I do think he will be playable. Especially while we are i...

Also annoying as hell to steal! I think it *feels* that way but...it's still points. And hey, you stopped the corp from scoring 3. I'm not sure it's still points in the same way; corps will set their agenda composition so the runner always has to score 4 agendas to win. It's going to be something l...

Re: A question about 'film critic' from Old Hollywood

It's part of the general rules about programs that lets you trash programs from Leprechaun, I think, as they're hosted but also installed. As agendas on Film Critic aren't installed, I think Brendan is right that you can't do anything with them except what Film Critic says - and that includes trashi...

Re: NEXT Glacier

Chimpster, it's a good call on Grim and I was wondering about that myself. I still haven't figured out whether 2 floating inf wants to go on Blacklist, to force remote runs and occasionally lock out runners, or Crisium Grid, which is great centrals protection for a deck that often loses from R&D...

NEXT Glacier

NEXT glacier out of HB seems like it might have got a bigger boost than any other deck from Marcus Batty, so I thought it might be nice to have a thread about it. I've been playing it all of regionals and nationals season, and frankly was about to give up on it, but now I'm reconsidering. Here's my ...

Yeah, Chatterjee results in triangle numbers where each click is worth one more credit than the previous one. Here's the table of ideal savings vs clicking for creds [this assumes you click it N times then install N programs, getting the full discount each time, so is very artificial - it also doesn...

Re: Data Pack: The Underway - discussion

I think Muertos Gang Member might be playable. It loses value fairly fast as the game goes on, but is pretty brutal denial in the first couple of turns when only one or two things are rezzed. Main issue is you can't float tags while it's on the table, but it's possible that rules it out of competiti...

Another option is to get from Kings Cross/St Pancras on the number 30 bus, which goes from right outside the front of Kings Cross. Take it to Dalston Junction (about 30-35 mins) and walk 10 mins to the venue. It's about as much time as the tube/overground option, but doesn't involve changes and is s...

Re: Pre-Nationals Corp Meta Analysis

++ to what Brendan said. My experience echoes that HB glacier is decent only because of Caprice right now: if I draw her, I'm in a good position; if I don't, I lose. Smart runners will make few but quality runs, so it's impossible to tax them out without her. Ash is only barely worth the slot agains...

A single Stimhack never really goes amiss, does it? Especially as a good way to play against stealth as corp is to tax their normal creds instead of stealth creds - lots of barriers, Ash, that kind of thing - and Stimhack can be a nasty surprise in that case.

Any update on results, deck lists etc? I'm just heading back on the train, but Andrew Hynes-Sam Pay final was underway when I left. Re: Someone explain gear checks to me

I get that gear checking came original from games like Wow where you wouldnt be able to pass a boss of a certain level without certain gear of the right level. Huh, is this really the etymology? I'd always assumed it was gear as in a car, and check as in "body check", the idea being that ...
