Re: Hijinks at Hogwarts - Charms

"Now children, pay attention" said Flitwick, as he bent over the wand. "This is an incredibly complex and not particularly well explained plot device, er, I mean spell, so your intonation must be clear and your wand movement accurate." With those words, he uttered the charm and f...

Re: Stockport Regional 2016 Tournament Report

Yep, I'm totally up for that.

I've been mulling over some sort of one-off or series of articles in my head (preposterously grandiose working title: The Competitive Player's Handbook) that covers this sort of thing, all the extras and fripperies that help you be good at Netrunner.

Re: Stockport Regional 2016 Tournament Report

Whilst I did the direct the question at Dave I would certainly be interested in others' answers fwiw Sure, I knew it wasn't exclusive. It's just the first time I tried to answer it came out all garbled. There's really a lot to this question. The first and unequivocal point to mention is that your m...

Re: Stockport Regional 2016 Tournament Report

Mark and Dave build, test and discuss together frequently. They often play identical decks, but they were on different runners at Stockport. I've half typed out a fairly long and rambling answer to your question about testing and discussion groups, but figured I'd give Dave a chance to respond first...

Re: Hijinks at Hogwarts - Charms

The class descended the North Tower on mass, clattering down stair cases and along corridors. The castle was always at its busiest between lessons, and the charged atmosphere meant that spats and magical accidents were common between lessons. Perhaps it was no surprise then when one of the class pul...

Re: Hijinks at Hogwarts - Divination

The morning seemed to have stretched on for weeks. History of Magic had been bad, but the combination of a stuffy room, the swirling smoke of several different incenses and the utter nonsense of the subject had deflated even the most dedicated of students. Matters weren't helped by Professor Trelawn...

Re: Hijinks at Hogwarts - History of Magic

Right all, apologies for the quiet week. I was away and a combination of a very patchy internet signal and a small phone made actually tracking this somewhat difficult. The current position is: Vote Count Joey - 1 (GuyCliquil) DoubleAitch - 2 (Joey, Tolaasin) Elvortel - 1 (Mendax) GuyCliquil - 2 (Ma...

Re: Hijinks at Hogwarts - Divination

Of all the teachers in the castle, the last one you'd want to upset was Professor Snape. He stormed in to the Divination classroom like an irritated and vengeful oversized bat, and fixed Seamus Finnegan with an icy stare. "Excuse me, Professor Trewlaney, but I need the assistance of Mr Finnegan...

Re: Hijinks at Hogwarts - Divination

I'm going to give Lord R until the end of the day to post. If he doesn't then he'll be hauled off by his ear, and you can carry on as normal.

Re: Hijinks at Hogwarts - Divination

It's nebulous, because hard and fast rules don't mesh well with real life, especially in the middle of Regionals season. As a guideline though, if you don't post for a week (which Lord R is pretty much up to now, but I'll give him a tiny bit of time to respond to Sixtyten's prodding) you can expect ...

Re: Hijinks at Hogwarts - Divination

I wonder if people aren't posting because they're waiting to decide what to send Nem as their vote predictions. Perhaps there should be a deadline on this, so we can get people back in the game?! The only person that I've not heard from is Lord Reynardine. I've given him a poke for non-activity, bu...

Re: Hijinks at Hogwarts - Divination

Hah, I've just read my hilarious typo. That instruction is meant to read "you CAN'T tell anyone else what your guess was". I'll go through and edit everything, and then it will look like I didn't make a mistake at all. What a wonderful feature. There'll be no sanction against Tolaasin, who...

Re: Hijinks at Hogwarts - Divination

I think the warm, scented atmosphere of the divination classroom has put us all to sleep. It is so very hard to concentrate. So, on the assumption that 'guess right divination' is a good thing, especially since I'm Katie, good at quidditch and a gryffindor through and through, I will tell you that ...

Re: Hijinks at Hogwarts - History of Magic

Apologies once again for the delay, everyone. The best laid plans of mice and Mafia GMs... *** The class filed out of the History of Magic room, but Hermione Grainger hung back, keen to have a word with Professor Binns about the homework that he'd set them. As the rest of the students started to hea...

Re: Expo Regional

What decks would you expect to struggle to out of interest? Certainly I can see a decent Blackmail threat being a problem, and actually Siphon spam - if it can get Argus into the ground - might be a good answer. More generally a reasonably paced Shaper I can see being able to just absorb the Scorch...

Re: Expo Regional

Argus is the really interesting one, I think. It's the faddy and off-beat Corp deck at the moment (no disrespect intended; it's a very legitimate deck that could be well placed in the meta), but it's coming out of the perceived weakest faction and most people probably don't have much experience of p...

Re: Hijinks at Hogwarts - History of Magic

The turgid tedium of a History of Magic class was enough to dull even the most frazzled of tempers. Whispered arguments and raised wands soon gave way to heads slumped on desks and eyelids struggling to stay open. The bell rang, shocking half the class in to sudden wakefulness. The students quickly ...
