Re: Pretty Fed up

Yeah I don't recommend HB FA as a good deck to learn to take to tournaments, just as a good deck to play to help you get back on the horse.

Re: San San Cycle

Yeah I think you need to build around Paige to make her playable. 'Deck thinning' isn't enough of a big deal to spend a click and a card to do so, and the irony of using an otherwise dead card to get other dead cards out of your deck should be fairly obvious to everyone. The cost of stopping you fro...

Re: Down With NEH

I think its too long enough since O&C came out to still file MaxX under 'new hotness'. People have known about her for a while and she's far from an unknown quantity at this point. I decided to run the numbers quickly and logged all the winning runner lists in that thread from the last 21 days (...

Re: Down With NEH

I think presently Criminals and Shaper are very close. Anarch is some ways behind - I think it's hard to build a versatile Anarch deck. With Clot, I can well see Anarch climbing up above Criminals to sit with Shaper at the top of the tree. If games go longer, time starts to smooth out all the weird...

Re: The Scramble for the decks

Yes agreed, RP has a tough time against a few things. Am i a bit weird for not going for in-faction sentries after i stopped playing Grail? I mean, i slot a few pups in because they are still great, but Tsurugi feels a bit lame at the minute for 6c. The pasting i took at the hands of Mendax and his...

Re: Down With NEH

I'd agree with Xeansis in saying that I think Criminal is about to be a lot worse. Obviously it still has strong cards and will always be tournament playable, but I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up in the spot of worst runner faction going forward (and it may even be there now). Given that no-o...

Re: The Scramble for the decks

I agree that Blue Sun and RP are going to be tier 1 tournament decks post clot, but they will still have problems and they won't be able to take the spot of take-all-comers-never-bad tournament deck that NEH has occupied up to this point. As Xenasis mentioned RP has a horrible time against Noise and...

Re: 4th April - Birmingham Casual Play

I will alter the event in May to be specifically for the cube, with casual constructed for those uninterested or unable to fit. I really enjoyed the last draft one I played, but it is too pricey to do the FFG official draft version in my opinion. Cube draft seems like the ideal way to do it. That w...

Re: 4th April - Birmingham Casual Play

We were thinking of starting at 11, probably done by 2 depending on numbers. We'd need 6 or 8 to run which doesn't look likely atm. Probably best to save it for a date during term time so the students are around,

Re: Pretty Fed up

Thanks all, good advice, I'd be interested what you think qualifies as "efficient" for the Gagarin deck? Would clicking to advance the space ice be considered efficient for example? I'd qualify clicking to advance Space Ice as efficient but generally I dislike doing it 3 times in a turn b...

Re: Pretty Fed up

A simple thing I started doing when playing on OCTGN as runner was counting how many new random accesses out of centrals I got. This was good for my game because a: it taught me that every single accesses was valuable and encouraged me to run more b: was a simple way of working out whether I'd lost ...

Re: Pretty Fed up

There's a casual day at Wayland's Forge next week if you want to swing by and get some games in. We might be doing a draft which is another great way to get a fresh take on the game.

Re: Pretty Fed up

Don't forget that you Top 4d in Leamington Spa so its not all bad. You're obviously a proficient player who's just having a bad run at the moment and we've all been there. My advice would be to go back to basics; pick up a proven deck from each side (probably a tournament winning decklist from somew...

Re: 4th April - Birmingham Casual Play

Andrew and I were hoping to get a cube draft going at this event if enough people are interested. For those that don't know a cube draft is a draft done from a pool of already put together cards (there's an article about it here http://stimhack.com/cube-drafting-101/). This means there won't be any ...

Re: Man i f*king love noiseshop

Its noiseshop SELL EVERYTHING. I'd sell aesops to itself if i could. Srs though i dont think id ever install cyberfeeder with the intention of selling it a few turns later, but it IS a target for aesops by the virtue of being installed, which i cant do with sure gambles. The econ it gives clickless...

Re: A Tournament?

Having people come up and pick from a big pool of prizes based on standing seems unwieldy if the prizes stretch down past 8. However this is all fine detail logistics-y stuff and should probably be left until the bigger questions are answered and it looks like this has a chance of actually taking pl...

Re: Man i f*king love noiseshop

Sorry vinegarymink i completely missed your reply to this thread. Thanks a lot for the feedback! I guess like with many things it really depends on the deck when it comes to viruses and how many to include, there are no hard and fast rules but probably not including at least some would make the dec...

Re: A Tournament?

Side events - you lot are demanding! Will have a think! Question - would you prefer lots of Swiss or Swiss then cut to top X? I like elimination but it's better giving away prizes when everyone is still there. Can always do Swiss and cut, but prizes are based off the swiss standings, and then the t...

Re: A Tournament?

I'm very much up for something like this. Obviously I'd support as close to the middle of the country as possible but that has a lot to do with coming from Birmingham. There's a good sized community in and around the Midlands at this point and so making is easily accessible for them would guarantee ...

Re: Man i f*king love noiseshop

Virus number: I've been on 14 for a while and I've been happy with it, but there's more to this question than just finding the right number of viruses. For a start it depends on how you build and play Noise; I tend to prefer to either control the board whilst aiming for a Medium Deep Dig to end the ...

Good job finally getting there Neil! I like the Ichi splash a lot and agree with you about it being one of the best pieces of Ice in the game. There aren't words to express how much I hate 3 Lotus Field in NEH, but that's an argument for another time and it seemed to work out for you.

Yeah that I'll agree with. It's possible that there wil also be an NEH Rush deck that has Fast Advance capabilities, but I'm sceptical about that.
