OK, since we're all going for the claims, I'm Hermione Granger, and I don't have time for your Quidditch nonsense, thank you very much.

I'm really starting to think that we're all Gryffindor here and nobody actually knows what the win condition is...!

I think this might be the case too.

Everyone has made reasonable role claims, so maybe no one is scum?

This was precisely my point.

I think lord r needs to tell us who they are. Though at this point it's sort of futile with everyone else having said it would be easy to lie. It does seem like all claims are credible. Which is weird. Surely some people are slytherin????... anyways, will probably collate this later...

I'm curious as to what people's win conditions are now. Maybe no one is scum in the usual sense. But have unique win conditions....

Which makes hexing Harry an interesting choice as though my win condition said absolutely nothing and particularly nothing about quiditch, hexing our seeker and protagonist seems weak. Though I suppose it's the penalty for getting good caught lying. Difficult.

I'm Seamus Finnigan, Gryffindor, non-vanilla. Won't reveal my power as I'm also cautious about info dumping, but not so much as to create problems for myself.

Personally, I'm suspicious of vanilla role claims. Can we get an updated tally? I realise this may mean we get in to interrogating powers, and giving away more information, but I also think they're the most likely claims of a plotting Slytherin or the like...

I'm also a lot more happy now we have undisputedHarry, Ron, Hermione claims. I think it adds weight to Spring's whole narrative. Happy to lay off him for now.

Seemingly, we're back to a square one scenario then because all these claims are certainly plausible.

My win condition gives absolutely nothing away either. My power definitely implies that bad stuff will happen (and that's all I'm saying on that for the time being) however, so something is definitely amiss.

By my notes Joey, mendax and tolaasin have all explicitly claimed vanilla.

However there are ~8 others who are yet to make a vanilla or non-vanilla claim.

I'm not vanilla.

Voters for springogeek have been:
Joey
mendax
Chimpster
Maxey
Guy

Out of that list I would:

Vote: Mendax

Care to provide a bit of reasoning there, Cenedra?

Of course, I was just in a hurry earlier so didn't have time to post properly, I'll explain my thoughts:

Looking at the people who voted for Spring seems really sensible to me, we don't have a lot else to go on right now and we have to start somewhere.

Out of those people, Joey has claimed to be a Quidditch player and for now I'd like to believe that us Quidditch players are on the same team! Chimpster claims Ron, and again, for now I'd like to trust my own little brother. Same goes for Maxey, I trust him 100%, because my PM told me so!

Guy and Mendax were the only ones left and to be honest they both seem suspicious. The more I think about it, the more I agree with whoever said that Colin seems like a strange include, he's certainly notably less important than the other characters, particularly in book 3. I'd be happy to go for a Guy hex here...I just voted for Mendax because I don't trust him, and why not? :p

I never liked having my photograph taken...
It does seem like an unusual include here.

Vote: Guy

Also, if we are supposed to be in one class, isn't a claim of Ginny suspicious? She is much younger, right?

I don't think the ages mean much. All of the Quidditch team apart from Harry are older than the trio, remember.

Still tempted to vote springo just because he lied, which is always a bad idea for town, but I agree that Guy does seem like the odd one out here.

So we have:

Lied about who they were
vs.
Is in a different yeargroup?

Double isn't the yeargroup either I know that much.

Can anyone with more Potter lore help me out? Is everyone else exactly the same year? It is probably just coincidence to be fair.

I think going down the lore route may get us into trouble pretty quickly if nem hasn't stuck to canon. I can understand spring wanting to try and hide his flavour if we thought this was a simple "kill harry" game. I suspect there is more subtle work at play. I stand by my vote and think non-quidditch team members are the ones to watch. Guy's role as Colin also bears scrutiny.

I agree that spring will get lynched at some point, but i feel that Colin is the odd one out so far out of all the names claimed

I thought as id had a day or so of inactivity (or so it felt) id prompt some discussion and stick a vote in. Im not against changing my vote later :)

Looking at it entirely objectively, spring still seems the logic place for a lynch here day 1. He's been caught out lying still at the end of the day. He's claimed Harry, sure, but in a regular game where names had no significance, would anyone here take him entirely at face value? I don't know, something is definitely amiss here and I know it's not as simple as Quidditch team vs non Quidditch team because my victory condition gives absolutely nothing away in that regard. Simply states 'you win when you don't lose' in effect.

Things will hopefully become a little clearer after the night phase but currently, I'm keeping my vote on spring. It's not something I feel passionately about, but currently I can't see many easy alternatives.

So, as per my previously stated suspicions, which double kindly pulled together info on, Mendax & Joey are on both lists (vanilla claims and Spring votes), and are right bang at the top of my suspicion lists. For now I'll go vote: Mendax, given some momentum, but I'm happy with either. I think Spring's mistake seems genuine, so whether or not he's an obvious or logical lynch target, I'm not convinced it serves the greater good.

Can we get a vote count?
