Abstract Nonsense - Katman MWL

Postby MouseChan » Wed Jan 13, 2016 11:38 am

One of my favorite decks of all time was Katman, a deck I popularized (and practically built the grimmoire version as I think everyone snapped onto desp at first), I played it on and off from C&C released.

Then PPVP kate became a thing and the deck vanished, oddly I never liked PPVP kate for some reason (PPVP ken was where it was at :))

Anyway, now PPVP has been hung, drawn, quatered, suckerpunched, gutted, garroted and torched, it's time to look back at an old friend.

Abstract Nonsense

Kate "Mac" McCaffrey: Digital Tinker (Core Set)

Event (12)
3x Diesel (Core Set)
3x Dirty Laundry (Creation and Control)
2x Indexing (Future Proof)
1x Levy AR Lab Access (Creation and Control)
3x Sure Gamble (Core Set)

Hardware (10)
2x Astrolabe (Up and Over)
3x Clone Chip (Creation and Control) ☆☆☆
2x Plascrete Carapace (What Lies Ahead)
3x R&D Interface (Future Proof)

Resource (8)
3x Daily Casts (Creation and Control)
1x Film Critic (Old Hollywood)
1x Kati Jones (Humanity's Shadow)
3x Professional Contacts (Creation and Control)

Icebreaker (6)
3x Atman (Creation and Control)
1x Cerberus "Lady" H1 (All That Remains)
1x Deus X (A Study in Static)
1x Sharpshooter (True Colors)

Program (9)
1x Clot (The Valley) ••
3x Datasucker (Core Set) •••
2x Parasite (Core Set) ☆☆ ••••
3x Self-modifying Code (Creation and Control)
9 influence spent (max 15-6=9)
45 cards (min 45)
Cards up to Old Hollywood

Deck built on NetrunnerDB.

It's built preciving a meta full of fast advance (for it is not dead) and RP/Medtech.

Critic helps vs Haarps and RP.

But Cj, what about AI hate cards? I hear you cry. Well not only does Lady shred eli, even when it has no counters it makes wrap 0, with Eli not being splashed as much now it could be inti easily.

Turning and swordsman should be easy to eat with a parasite, and tbh bouncing off turning isn't a massive deal atm, if need be the deck could easily incorpate 1 gordian into it's suite.

I was thinking about 4tman and Co, so thanks for a starter list. I've not really played Kate, so don't know where to start! ;)

Kind of feels like I'd want a Mimic, just to deal with Swordsman and avoid fannying around with datasucker counters versus Architect.

Do you have enough memory options? Feels kind of light given you'll have up to 3 atman and need room for the other speciality pieces, potentially an SMC redo, Parasite & Datasucker etc. Would 1 Astrolabe, 1 Akumatsu be bonkers?

Chimpster and myself were discussing a similar sort of deck, though we wanted to combine Net Ready Eyes with the Atman build - have you considered using NRE? Could be useful if you get locked out of centrals for datasuckers, and means that your atmans can serve 2 strengths each.

Presumably a prime, if costly, parasucker target.

How about two Turings? If Parasite is the answer to Turing on remotes we're in trouble.

I'd be inclined to drop to one plas and slot a cy-cy for that.

This seems good.
