Jes Blitz

Postby king_mob » Thu Feb 04, 2016 11:09 am

What im trying at the minute with Jes. First observations:

- I'm pretty in awe of Maya as a console.
- I don't think Jes needs to go all in on the self applied tags, really.
- The tag-u decks like Haarp and Sync lose a lot of stopping power if you can do safer facechecks.
- Vamp and the console are enough for the matchups which are not trying to tag you (HB, RP).

Without playing your deck what so ever, I'd be tempted to make the following changes...

-1 CyCy for +1 Zu or Gordian

-1 Maya for +1 Atman (only if Foodcoats/assassin is still a big thing (Repeat D4v1ding assassins is a pain, or if you find yourself locked out by barrier breakers ever)

Looks like a solid start though, may give it a whirl if I ever get off the Noise-Train!

Edit: Also you should bring this to the Glos SC for awesomes-sakes. ;)

Is Code Siphon worth it do we think? I think especially with expensive-ish programs like Mopus or Lady...

I know a local has been testing her and his opinion was that he was going to cut it... until the managed a turn 2 Opus for 2 creds. Is the 1 time in 10 worth it for the card slot?

So from my limited play last night of a Jesminder deck, I'd say:

You're right to go with 3x Maya, with Magnum and Self-Mod as an early set up, being stuck with one of breakers in hand slowed me down. Early console essential.

Code siphon still sucks. Tried to engineer a situation where I could use it. Failed. Not convinced I'll keep trying.

I was running Pro Co. I think it was overkill with MO, and would have preferred faster draw, so I'm gonna switch it out for quality times. Might try and find room for baby.

Jesminder is definitely my new shaper bae. Have you noticed how all the even vaguely playable shapers are women? Sorry Nasir, I love you, but...

Yeah im worried about sentries too. Anything out of mimic range bascially. The sentry issue is a big one, this deck isnt at all like kate - with ppvp kate you do one money run a turn, but with this deck you actually want 2x runs a turn to get value out of maya (maya gives you a new card for your 2nd run, which is pretty cool). So your going to hit the limit of a single Dv41d pretty quick. That definitely needs some work but im really loathe to waste slots on more programs that may not get used. Less tech, more blitz.

For decoders i think the amount you are hammering centrals 2x CyCy is fine. There are two after all, so one can be floating and you can move around with scavenge, one can be for RND. Or just scavenge one around. Really i think if you can get maya and a few breakers out really early your pressuring RND so much the corp will be making very hastily constructed remotes.

I know people who build better decks than i do have said code siphon is legit, i dont like it presonally. Its in the wrong faction. SMC and test run are better choices for tutoring.

So, the plan is to use 4tman+cycy to establish an early, strong R&D lock then vamp them into oblivion.

Thoughts (disclaimer: I've not played as jes yet, and even if I had, I remain a middling player).

I concur on single cycy + zu/gordian.

triple armitage would be quicker than mopus (although non-tutorable); do you need more than armitage levels of cash (given you have the baby as well).

Do you need triple RDI with mopus?

Can you squeeze an artist colony in there?

double lady is 2inf in effect. Is that still better than a corroder? Could you then dump the scavenges for more econ/draw?

Answering each point in turn.

1) People are probably right about double cycy, it may be less flexible and something like a gordian could probably replace them both
2) mopus is for vamp primarily, armitage will not give you a chance to beat the corp on credits, mopus will
2) why would RDI conflict with mopus? I think RDI is more redundant with maya than anything, but the name of the game is RND lock and it gives more targets to modded
3) i dont like artist colony personally, in a faction with test run and SMC
4) i still think lady > corroder

Trying gordian out for a spin. I forgot to mention atman @4 is there for sentries above str 3, so it couples with mimic more than it does cycy. Problem is, big sentries are creeping back in it seems. I may give the stealth + account siphon build a spin.

well, they do work together. Maya reads "once a turn, after you access a card from RND" meaning if you are seeing 1 card or 4, you get to use maya. Even better you get to choose. So you can potentially see 9 cards in a turn with all 3x RDI and maya. Like, a 5th of the deck.

Sorry bit lost on how you access 9 cards.

Assuming you mean that with Maya and RDI you can move all the cards you access in that run to the bottom (which I am not sure you can) that still leaves 4+4 = 8 cards

I think the change from CyCy to Gordian is probably wrong. The NEH answer to Faust is to run Archangel, Little Engine and Tollbooth with Mumba Temple it seems. Turing is also a pain on a remote. Big code gates are definitely a thing at the moment, so I like the CyCys personally.
