Investment 101 - lets try to make Fisk.

Postby MasterAir » Fri Sep 18, 2015 10:53 am

Fisk might not be good enough, but he's pretty cool. So let's see if we can make him work.

I want to play FIS a bunch of times and run every turn. As Cerberus said in the other thread, if we don't run every turn the Fisk power is rubbish.

This is my first draft. There's a couple of spare influence. I need to find room for legwork too, and probably Gang Sign. So it's not there yet. Can I get the hive mind's opinion and see where we can take this?

I think trying to fit everything one wants into a Laramy deck is a mistake - I would even go so far as to think about ditching the HQ interface. Without support suddenly dumping credits is going to never feel like the right call. I would be tempted to swap it for Sneakdoor Beta instead because you can recoup it with free runs if necessary.

Alternatively I would take a third special order to avoid the horrible feeling criminals can have of just not having the right breaker at the right time. That can so easily happen and a third Special Order is a godsend.

I would be tempted to go down to 2 Security Testings and throw in another Lucky Find since you have the influence. Sometimes you just need to get the money into the account in order to do the runs to keep ticking over - it helps get you back from behind.

My deckbuilding does tend to be negative however, so take all that with a pinch of salt.

I think in general though this is a good Fisk list because it doesn't forget fundamentals, or attempt to pile too much onto the HQ flood.

That said, one of these days I will trial him with Woman in the Red Dress and Eden Shard - because I am, deep down, a Netrunner fool distracted by shiny jank. :P

Eden Shard is probably a good shout. I think Apocolypse Fisk might be fun too, when that's a thing.

My only problem with Apocalypse Fisk is that criminals tend to only have 1 rig, and they can't recur it or make it better very easily.

I am planning on doing Exile Apocalypse then Levy just to reset the board, ideally with no points scored. My hope is to do this against Biotech when we're both on 5 credits (after Levy)

this is what I would do! - so best bet is probably not to do it.

I would only say drug dealer over john massanori

I think a makers eye would be a good splash as you can fresh RnD

I think a card that would combo well with Fisk would be Vigil, but it would require a LOT of support. I wonder if there are legs in a bad-pub Fisk build? Probably only once there's a more reliable source of bad pub.

Man, I need to stop going straight to jank.

I feel like if we're gonna make Fisk work we have to make a weird crim build which just...doesn't put R&D pressure on, and focuses on hitting remotes and HQ hard. I think that trying some way to HQI / Gang Sign would be good, as would Hades shard for the inevitable jackson dump of flooded agendas.
The onesie was a legitimate tactical decision.

I tried this with a DLR/Paparazzi/Fall Guy/Wireless Net Pavillion combo and it was a pain in the arse. Too many bits to set-up.

I think the dream of being able to deck the corp with Fisk will remain just that, but as more of a control type of deck, I think he has serious potential. If you can keep spamming Fisk Investment Seminar, his ID ability and the occasional (recurred) Eden Shard, along with some AS/FAO/ES action to keep the corp poor, you should be able to put them in a very difficult situation which allows you opportunties to capitalise, particularly in the late game when the agendas are pooling up in HQ/R&D.

This is my amended list I put together this afternoon, as yet untested:

Hardcore Fisking V2

Laramy Fisk: Savvy Investor (The Universe of Tomorrow)

Event (25)
3x Account Siphon (Core Set)
3x Dirty Laundry (Creation and Control)
3x Déjà Vu (Core Set) ••••• •
2x Emergency Shutdown (Cyber Exodus)
2x Express Delivery (Honor and Profit)
3x Fisk Investment Seminar (The Universe of Tomorrow)
2x Forged Activation Orders (Core Set)
2x Hostage (Opening Moves)
2x Special Order (Core Set)
3x Sure Gamble (Core Set)

Hardware (3)
2x Box-E (First Contact)
1x e3 Feedback Implants (Trace Amount)

Resource (10)
3x Daily Casts (Creation and Control)
1x Eden Shard (Upstalk)
1x Film Critic (Old Hollywood)
1x Hades Shard (First Contact)
1x Kati Jones (Humanity's Shadow)
3x Same Old Thing (Creation and Control)

Icebreaker (3)
1x Aurora (Core Set)
1x Garrote (True Colors)
1x Peacock (What Lies Ahead)

Program (4)
2x Gorman Drip v1 (Opening Moves)
2x Trope (Old Hollywood) ••••• •
15 influence spent (max 15)
45 cards (min 45)
Cards up to The Universe of Tomorrow

Deck built on NetrunnerDB.

Shit breakers for the win! Loads of recursion (DJ/SoT/Trope) for getting the power cards back/back into your deck, play as many turns as possible with FIS, a central run to force another draw (AS, all the better) and something else to mess with the corp's econ (FAO on some remote you don't care about/ES some ice in front of HQ).

Not sure about Box-E but it does allow one to better cope with the flood of cards from FIS, as well as getting the full breaker/Gorman/Trope rig out.

Not sure I get the appeal of DLR in Fisk. Fisk doesn't aid your setup, and his forced draws seems somewhat incidental to a DLR mill deck.

A month later and I can report all my experimentation with Fisk has been a dud.

Anyone else have better luck?

I'm having some fairly decent luck testing with a deck I wrote for a friend for his entrance to a charity event where you have to buy your id pairings.

Timing Is.....everything

Laramy Fisk: Savvy Investor (The Universe of Tomorrow)

Event (19)
3x Account Siphon (Core Set)
3x Dirty Laundry (Creation and Control)
2x Emergency Shutdown (Cyber Exodus)
3x Fisk Investment Seminar (The Universe of Tomorrow)
2x Inside Job (Core Set)
2x Special Order (Core Set)
3x Sure Gamble (Core Set)
1x The Maker's Eye (Core Set) ••

Hardware (8)
3x Desperado (Core Set)
2x HQ Interface (Humanity's Shadow)
1x Plascrete Carapace (What Lies Ahead)
2x R&D Interface (Future Proof) ••••

Resource (7)
2x Bank Job (Core Set)
3x Drug Dealer (Old Hollywood)
2x Same Old Thing (Creation and Control)

Icebreaker (9)
1x Cerberus "Rex" H2 (All That Remains)
2x Corroder (Core Set) ••••
3x Faerie (Future Proof)
1x Femme Fatale (Core Set)
1x Gordian Blade (Core Set) •••
1x GS Shrike M2 (Data and Destiny) ••

Program (2)
2x Sneakdoor Beta (Core Set)
15 influence spent (max 15)
45 cards (min 45)
Cards up to Data and Destiny

Deck built on NetrunnerDB.

It plays as an agressive crim deck that uses his inate to power up HQ and RnDIs.

Still unsure on drug dealers I love the card in gabe but it's dug me into a pit a few times with this deck.
