Hardwired draft tournament, Sat 30th April

Postby Panda with issues... » Wed Mar 30, 2016 4:22 pm

We've acquired 12 full sets of the latest draft packs.

I had a draft with them the other week and I think they're actually pretty well balanced and fun to play with.

We're running a tournament at Eclectic Games in Reading on Saturday 30th April.

Details:

£5 entry. - Same entry as a regular tournament. This covers RENTAL of the draft packs. Since everyone owns all the cards already, we pay a nominal fee and then reconstruct the draft packs at the end. You won't be able to keep any of the jank you draft (This INCLUDES YOU GUY!).

Format: Draft corp deck, then a runner deck then a short period for deckbuilding, followed by a swiss tournament. Probably 4 rounds to ensure we have enough time to draft and then deconstruct.

Prize support to be confirmed. You will need to sleeve the cards as they are owned by the store.

Please preregister your interest because there are only 12 sets of cards available, so only 12 slots for the tournament. This in no way replaces the GNK constructed tournament which will run on the first saturday of the month as per usual.

11am - 17.30

Well since I got a shout out it would be rude to not come.

How do I pre-register?

I have no idea how jank & draft interact. On the one hand - none of those pesky influence limits (oh my word how exciting) but on the other hand precise combinations of cards can be difficult. I mean if Analog Dreamers comes into my hand I may feel that i have to draft it, but without Exploratory Romp that card is just silly.

I'm keen but happy to stand down if someone else wants in. Echo the sentiments about pre-reg.

Currently wrangling dates for this. After being given the go ahead by 2 seperate people, including the events manager at the store, 5 minutes after I put up the event there were complaints about the date.

Obviously I'm less than impressed.

Watch this space. Will update you asap.

This has been resolved and will occur on the date as listed.

I'll work out a way to take preregistration next week.

I have poked Seb as he wanted to be reminded of Drafts.

Have no idea if he can make it but have sent a query his way.

Great idea! I would be awesome to have Seb around again (even if just for draft).

Alas he is moving that weekend. But he does want to be kept informed of drafts and jank tournaments. :)

Unfortunately my Pete sightings have not been recent enough to ask him about this. I do have one other potential attendee (Conrad)

Conrad would take us nicely to 12, so he'd be very welcome.

Good turnout today, and I hope everyone had good fun! The room was brimming with jank, and the 'cream' rose to the top, with Conrad and Guy finishing 1 and 2!

Top jank moment I think I witnessed was Joey desperately mathsing out how much money he needed to break a 13 (or something) advanced Tyrant with an Ankusa. (Spoilers, he was short even with an omni drive credit and a net celebrity).

Personal favourite moment (though it made me look dumb) was confidently installing a Black File, and daring Brendan to win on agenda points, when he calmly noted that I was tagged and just trashed it for the win.

Thanks for all the help from the rest of the players reconstructing the draft packs, ready for next time.
